Summits
The Videomaker Summit is an event held twice a year, one on the East Coast and one on the West Coast. It is a great place to network with dozens of other people who love making video. You can choose between 3 different 1-Day Focused Lessons, a 3-Day Workshop or a variety of seminars! Our seminars provide a foundation for participants to learn how to make better video. Videographers have a chance to learn directly from the experts and realize the endless potential of video.
Focused Lessons:
Advanced Editing:
This hands-on course is for students who understand the basics of video editing and want to advance their skills. Each student will work on an editing program on a supplied Sony laptop, that will take you beyond the basics skills and into some advanced techniques including compositing, complex graphics and titles, filter effects, color effects, layered mixed audio and sound sweetening. Due to computer access, this hands-on class is limited in number. Due to the level of skill needed in this class, we will not be teaching beginner techniques and only those with a basic skill level of non-linear editing should attend. Attendees will use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 video editing software.
Vidcast Production:
Everyone is making vidcasts; from huge studios to neighborhood kids who want to deliver video content online. This intensive lesson takes you through each aspect of the process, including technical details on compression and RSS feeds. The class will create a podcast in a hands-on environment with each student using a provided Sony laptop. Our instructor will walk you through the complete process from getting started to uploading the podcast to the internet by the end of the day. Attendees will use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 video editing software.
Audio Mixing:
If you're just tweaking your video for a finished look, you're leaving out half your production value. Audio post production is where you create and refine the emotional impact of your scene. Blending your voice, music and sound effects together to make an immersive track that draws your audience into the story you're telling. Using individually provided Sony laptops, students will create their own rich soundtracks for the supplied video scene, and learn valuable techniques, both aesthetic and technical for creating impressive soundscapes. Attendees will use Adobe Soundbooth CS3 audio editing software
3-DAY Basic Production Workshop:
Our popular Chico-based workshop is now going on the road! Spend three days leaning with the editors and writers of Videomaker Magazine! Videomaker Workshops provide you with the opportunity to meet the pros and explore all elements of video production. Each session holds about 15 people and focuses on a specific aspect of video production. You will start each day with a one-hour seminar on the tasks of the day, then break into groups to make a video. - "Videomaker Events are a great place to network with dozens of other people who love making video. Students may misinterpret the ease of making video because of the explosion of sites such as YouTube and MySpaceTV. At our Chico Workshops, Videographers have a chance to learn directly from the experts and realize the endless potential of video. Our Conference seminars provide a foundation for participants to learn how to make better video. By attending the Summit Videographers may realize that like any other craft, excellence comes with training, diligence and hard work."
